Here’s a little round up of what we’ve been up to so far in 2013.

We spent most of January tucked away in our home studio recording and writing new material. We’ve enjoyed experimenting with lots of different techniques and writing methods and are rather pleased with what we’ve produced so far. If you come along to a live show in the next few months, you may well experience some of these new songs.

At the end of January we began our tour with the brilliant Wave Machines. This tour took us to Bath, Liverpool, Glasgow and London. All in all we had a fantastic time, and truly relished the opportunity to play with such friendly, fantastic musicians. On February 3rd we took some time away from touring to take part in an exciting new project called ‘Live from the Village Underground’. This was organised by the lovely folks at Bella Union, and took place in Shoreditch. We recorded and filmed three songs and had a wonderful time doing so. Hopefully you’ll be able to see the results soon!

We also had the pleasure of supporting Lord Huron at the Lexington on February 8th. A jolly fun evening all round.

2012 has been a great year for us. Here’s a brief look back at our highlights:

January:

The year began with finishing off the mixing of our album, Star Map. We also  shot the video for Always Golden with our good friend Edward Lake:

February/ March 

We did our first tour of the year in February and March, including a gig at this beautiful guildhall in Plymouth:

We also started the process of developing the artwork for Star Map. We enjoyed going to see Wild Beasts (supported by Alt-J) and Shearwater amongst others.

April

April was a thoroughly enjoyable month for us. A particular highlight was the brilliant welsh music festival Focus Wales. It was a privilege to play as part of it and fantastic to see so much great music in our local venues. In this month we welcomed a drummer into the live set.

May

In May we supported the truly ace Errors at Central Station in Wrexham, and had a great time at Liverpool Sound City. Here’s us rocking out at the Bombed Out Church:

June

In between gigging we found the time to cycle from London to Brighton and also go to Hop Farm festival, where we had a great time with Mary Epworth and her band. There we met the lovely chaps from Field Music for the first time. During this month we also saw the brilliant Stealing Sheep in Wrexham.

July

Perhaps the highlight of July was heading to one of our favourite places in the world, Cwm Idwal, to film the music video for Sugarloaf.

We played gigs in Buckley, Wrexham and Sheffield, and went to see the wonderful Low Anthem play a fantastic show in Liverpool.

August

In August we released Sugarloaf as a single. Festival season was in full swing by this time and we fully embraced it. We played at Standon Calling and Greenbelt Festival, as well as going to Green Man. We saw a huge number of brilliant bands and can’t wait to be involved in more festivals next year.

September

September was the start of what has been some of the best times we’ve had since we started making music together 7 years ago. We released our album, Star Map, and celebrated our album launch at the beautiful St Giles’ Church in Wrexham.

October

October saw us complete our final tour of the year, this time supporting Field Music. This was a real highlight - all in all it was truly fantastic.

November

In November we headed to Media City in Salford for a session with Marc Riley on BBC 6Music. We have 6Music on all the time at GFHQ so it was a real honour to record a session.

December

Christmas song!

We did our final gig of the year in London at The Borderline early in December, and since then we’ve been beavering away in the studio working on our second album. We’re really excited by the new material and can’t wait to show you.

Hello,

Since returning from our tour with Field Music we’ve been rather busy. We have recorded a session for Marc Riley’s BBC 6 Music show (which you can listen to here), played a lovely gig at Kraak Gallery in Manchester (which you can read a review of here courtesy of Clash Music) and started to be creative again in the studio. We’re in the process of writing and recording lots of new material which we’re thoroughly enjoying. We have decided to release one of these songs today…..

New Christmas Release!

We were asked by the lovely Bethan Elfyn to write a festive song for a special Christmas themed show on Amazing radio. We rather liked what we came up with, so decided to record it properly and release it as a thank you to everyone who has supported us this year. Click here to download it from bandcamp.
